Glass face only has shattered. What should I know before deciding on trying to fix it myself or have repaired. Such as: how hard is it to open case and then close properly? Is there adhesive holding face-plate that will be compromised and so not go back together properly? Or anything to look out for when it is open and removing broken glass?

Too late for you but for the record: I had to get my Moto One 5G Ace screen fixed (just the glass, LCD was fine) and I took it to a repair shop. They fixed it, but apparently in the process they broke the speaker connection because of the way the adhesive was applied. Lucky for me they fixed it free because it was technically their fault, but it sounds like it might just be a matter of how the phone is constructed. TL;DR be careful with the speaker cable when taking the phone apart to fix the screen.
