Somehow the glass protective layer over the LCD got cracked. The LCD is not affected. I have the replacement glass and I am just wondering if anyone has repaired this before or would it be better to just replace the whole display? I have the high resolution, so just not sure if the one sold on here is compatible. I am guessing yes, but would love to know for sure. Thanks in advance!
tandbergc , I have not done this repair, but I am sure others have. Both the glass and LCD replacement are rated as (very hard) on the MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2010 . Since you already have the replacement glass, if you would like to attempt the repair, I will post a link to the glass replacement guide, Link #1. The assy. replacement definitelly would be easier and is scored as (moderate) to complete, Link #2. As far as your question on replacement screen assy.(possibly a used part), I will put a contact link below where you can ask/enquire with your questions to the iFixit store on resolution, availability, etc., Link #3. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.
