Need help with my GE PFSF2MIXBWW Profile Bottom Mount Freezer Refrigerator. Purchased ~2010. I replaced the Main Control Board after a hard failure. The unit is cooling again, but over several weeks, the autodefrost has become totally confused. It defrosts more than once/day, the interior temperatures read >40F, and the ice melts. Thermistors check OK, heater resistance is OK. I replaced the defrost thermostat - no improvement. Could the problem be on the new control board? The new part looks identical to the original part but the the part numbers are different. The new PN is listed for this model on several replacement parts sites.

Refrigerators will defrost 3-4 times a day. The control board controls the the defrost cycle. The thermostat controls the element. Once the thermostat cycles of the heater, that ends the defrost mode. The freezer shouldn’t be 40f The fresh food section could be 40f during defrost, not the freezer. The defrost tstat might be bad.
