My GE Gas Dryer is less than years old. Stopped working mid cycle. No power to anything. Checked the plug and outlet….but still nothing. I have no idea what to think. Google is saying display board or something. Anyone have any ideas where i can check? Dont want to junk a $1,000 dryer and dont want to put money in it if its a simple cheap fix. Thanks!!
Hi, Don’t know the model so the best that I can advise is to purchase the service manual as it will have the wiring diagram that will hopefully show you how the power gets to the control board and if it goes via any thermal fuses etc. which may have blown. Some dryers have a thermal fuse which monitors the exhaust air temperature of the dryer and if it exceeds the set value the fuse will blow to prevent damage to the motor etc and also to prevent a possible fire etc. These fuses cannot be reset, they have to be replaced. If for example a fuse has blown you will have to find out why as a fuse doesn’t blow for no reason. The GE part number for the mini manual (aka wiring diagram) is 31-3000203 but unfortunately I cannot find a free download online. If you do find a faulty component, search online for GTD84GCPN1DG parts to get results for suppliers that suit you. Some suppliers e.g. partselect.com and searspartsdirect.com have parts diagrams which help because when you click on the part of interest, it gives the manufacturer’s part number for the part as well as the part supplier’s part number. Once you have it, search online using the manufacturer’s part number only to get results for more suppliers. Regarding the warranty, I only mentioned it because you said ‘… is less than years old.” so I decided to cover all bases in case you meant < 1 year old.
My only suggestion is to check the breaker or fuse box since you’ve already checked to make sure it’s plugged in. That’s the first thing I check when something has no power and it’s plugged into the outlet. That’s usually where my problems are located.
