Games run fine on battery power, but once I plug in the power cord there are tons of graphical glitches and they crash. Have very little experience with windows so not sure if missing something obvious.
Hi Does it only occur when playing games or even when you just connect the adapter when not playing games i.e. surfing the web etc? Does it only occur when playing the one particular game or all games? Here are some things to check just to eliminate them as possible causes and maybe also to find out what is going on. Does the laptop normally charge OK? Use a DMM’s (digital multimeter) Voltmeter function to check the charger’s output voltage and make sure that it is 19V DC Have you checked that the latest BIOS firmware and drivers are installed? Create a Win10 battery report just to check that the battery is OK. Check in Event Viewer for any noticeable Critical, Error and Warning events that occur at the time the problem starts. To get to Event Viewer, right click on the Windows Start button on the left side of the Taskbar and click on the Event Viewer link. If you do see any events that stand out click on them to get more information and then search online using the “Event ID” and “source” in the search term to find out what they mean.
