Chosen Solution
I have this game called Galactic Civilizations II gold edition, it was working fine until I tried to get updates. Well first off, the serial number doesn’t work so I went to the manufacturers site & they told me to uninstall it and install Steam & use The numbers again.. Well, that didn’t work either. So I tried to reinstall the game & all I get is this error: “The file E:\Readme.txt could not be Opened.” I talked to the local PC repair & they told me nothing & it would be $95.00 just to check it out. I can’t find anything on the web.
Go to your steam folder Default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
Find the game folder and delete it there. Uninstall from steam after that. Then try to reinstall the game.
