After a display assembly, the front camera of my iPhone stopped working, I replaced the front camera twice and the problem still there. Could this be a logic board problem that means I need to replace the whole board? If so, what could cause this problem?

You probably damaged your logic board. There is a little chip above Audio jack flex connector. Check to see if it’s still there. If it’s missing, that is the reason your front camera stopped working. You can create a little jumper to fix the problem. See this pic. Hope that helps.

There is a logic board issue whereby the camera, either front, or back camera is no longer recognized by the iphone 4. The only way to fix it, is to have the logic board component replaced. This service can be found on ebay.

I researched this to no end and I think finally I resolved it. YOU MUST replace the front lens from the old screen or it won/t work. The lens pushes the camera to make contact with the steel shield on the back of camera which then grounds it to the under side of board. With out the it, it becomes useless because it isn’t grounded correctly. I used a small metal ground between the camera and it’s metal bracket for the ground.

When you replaced the camera, did you disconnect the battery 1st? If not…disconnect battery for a couple minutes & restart phone.

My front facing camera was not workin on my jailbroken iphone 4. I disabled springtomize and then it was working so look in apps like ifile and springtomize to see if you disabled the front facing camera setting

  1. Jailbreak your device
  2. Download iFile
  3. Go to System/library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/N90AP.plist
  4. Set the value for front-facing-camera to false
  5. Reboot You will now not have the option to “accidentally” use the front facing camera.

Hi Patrick, I see from your original post…you changed your display. So more than likely when you removed/installed the connectors at the top of board…you probably knocked a little chip off of it. To test chip above audio jack connector, just solder across (bridge) both connections. If your camera works, just leave it that way. It will work fine.

Hi there I’m still having the same front camera problem like the shutter won’t open and the camera/video icon flutters rapidly.. I have checked the little chip above the audio jack and its still intact .. the back camera works fine however .. help please

Hallo i tried this yesterday to make a jumper between this two points and after that my front camera worked perfect but it stopped to make calls the carrier was gone and when i was trying to make a call to somebody his phone was ringing but my phone it was dead i didnt hear anything. After that i removed the bridge to see if this was the problem but the problem was still there and the front camera stopped again to work. After few hours the problem with calls stopped without to do something. Do you have hear this before? It happend beacause the jumper or is something else that just happend?

You probably damaged another component of Logic Board by keeping the solder gun on a spot too long.
