i have an amana ABB1924WEW 0 digital controls set for 5. every now and then i open door light comes on digital readings are flat line and fridge is getting warm i rest to any number it starts working again
Hi @unionman40 , Is the compressor running when there are no readings? Just wondering if the compressor is not being restarted after an auto defrost cycle should have ended due to a faulty defrost thermostat, part #14 - unit parts diagram The auto defrost cycle occurs once every 6-11 hours (depends on manufacturer) to allow the ice buildup on the evaporator unit inside the freezer compartment, to be melted and drained away. This takes approx. 15-25 minutes. During this time the compressor and the evaporator fan are turned off and the temperature in the freezer compartment is allowed to rise to ~32 deg.F (0 deg. C). The defrost heater associated with the evaporator unit is turned on to speed up the melting process to prevent any thawing of the food to even begin to occur. The defrost thermostat operates when the temp in the freezer compartment reaches ~32 deg F to signal the control board to end the auto defrost cycle and start the compressor and evaporator fan again to cool the refrigerator/freezer back down to the set temps.
