I have an Admiral fridge. The fridge is barely cold. The freezer is above freezing. There is a pipe on the back of the fridge that is covered in ice. I’ve tried defrosting it, but when I plug the fridge back in it freezes over again. Do you know what the issue could be? Is this reparable or should I get a new fridge?
Hi @ameliamayscott , What is the model number of the refrigerator? There appears to be a blockage in the sealed system. Depending on your location, to comply with the environmental regulations regarding the handling of refrigerant gases, you may need to contact a licenced refrigerator repairer to fix the problem. They have the equipment to correctly test the high and low pressures in the sealed system to find out where and what the problem is. How old is the refrigerator? It appears that Admiral only provide a 12 month warranty on their refrigerators whereas most other fridge manufactures give a 5 year warranty on the sealed system (labour not included) in the refrigerator and only 12 months on the rest of the refrigerator. The sealed system includes the compressor, evaporator, condenser, filter dryer and associated piping. If your refrigerator is <12 months old or even if it is not it may be worthwhile to check the warranty provisions in case it may have a longer sealed system warranty i.e. 5 years, where you are. The warranty statement is usually found in the user manual that came with the refrigerator or online if you know the model number. Just search for Admiral (insert model number) user manual
