Hi, Your model has two evaporator units, one in the refrigerator and one in the freezer. The evaporator unit is where the cold temperature comes from to cool each compartment down to the required temperature. Given that both compartments are warmer than they should be, it indicates that there may be a problem with the sealed system somewhere, as this is common to both evaporator units. Lack of refrigerant due to a leak, faulty compressor, restricted filter dryer or s clogged condenser coil. Try vacuuming the condenser so that it is clean of any dust build up which may be reducing the efficiency of the cooling system. Disconnect the power to the refrigerator when you do this. Access is from the back of the cabinet The sealed system comprises the compressor, the filter dryer, the condenser, the evaporator units and the associated tubing. It is the refrigerant gas that is pumped through the system that produces the cold temps in the evap units. All this is controlled by the control board. I can’t find a free download for the service manual for the model (GE part # 31-51962) so that you could use it to run the diagnostic tests for the refrigerator to hopefully get more of an idea where to look. According to this link there should be one with the refrigerator. Worth a look perhaps. If the diagnostics don’t help then the high and suction pressures in the sealed system would need to be tested to find out if they’re OK or not and if not why not. Depending on your location, you will need a licensed refrigerator repairer to do this due to the environmental regulations regarding the handling of refrigerant gases. How old is the refrigerator? If there is a problem with the sealed system then according to the owner manual there’s a 5 year warranty on the sealed system. See the image below.
