The freezer on my ‘09 Samsung side by side is not working. Started with ice not harvesting, then the temperature was too warm to keep things frozen. The refrigerator side is still cold. Pulled it out from the wall to vacuum and clean the compressor unit- and after several hours, lo and behold, ice started to harvest and a package of hamburger buns I had set in there was frozen solid. Pushed the unit back into place and by the morning, no ice again and buns were thawed. Pulled it back out to look at other possibilities and within 8-10 hours ice started harvesting again, and buns frozen solid again. So, it would seem as long as the unit is in the middle of my kitchen floor, absolutely in the way of everything, it works. HELP! We’ve already had this issue once before in 2012 (can’t remember what the repair guy said it was) but I won’t spend any more money on this unit.

Cause 1 The Evaporator Coils are Frosted Over The defrost heater assembly turns on a few times throughout the day to melt away any frost that may have accumulated on the evaporator coils. If the defrost heater assembly is defective, frost will continue to accumulate on the evaporator coils, and the coils will become plugged with frost. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, the airflow through the coils will be restricted, causing the refrigerator not to cool. Check the evaporator coils to determine if they are frosted over. If the evaporator coils are frosted over, test each component of the defrost system. Cause 2 Evaporator Fan Motor The evaporator fan motor draws cold air over the evaporator coils and circulates it throughout the freezer. If the evaporator fan is not working, the freezer or refrigerator will not cool adequately. To determine if the evaporator fan motor is defective, try turning the fan blade by hand. If the fan blade does not turn freely, replace the fan motor. Additionally, if the motor is unusually noisy, replace it. Finally, if the motor does not run at all, use a multimeter to test the motor windings for continuity. If the windings do not have continuity, replace the evaporator fan motor.. Cause 3 Damper Control Assembly The air damper control opens and closes to let the proper amount of cold air into the refrigerator compartment. If the damper does not open properly, it won’t let enough cold air into the refrigerator. Check the damper control to determine if it is broken or stuck closed.

Hi @cooldudealoud , Sorry haven’t got much time at the moment but here’s the service manual p.62 has the self diagnostic function that may help to narrow down the problem. Also maybe not a help right now but it is new so it should be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty as far as servicing goes. Read the warranty so that you don’t void it just in case something is faulty and needs to be replaced

Thanks I appreciate its Good Friday as a holiday, but Samsung websites suck as cannot do an on line service ticket to report and request a visit by an engineer. It even doesnt recognise the model number as the site defaults .com. IMHO should be ,co,uk for UK owners as we do have a Samsung in UK, and cannot understand the support pages dont work for UK users and defaults for USA and am assuming US models, so crazy that their IT never check their websites for functionality
