My daughter put a password on her Chromo, Inc. 7" tablet (without permission) and has forgotten the password. Is there anyway to reset it? I cannot get customer service to answer this and they have no number to call. It also is not in the tiny “booklet” they call a user manual. Thank you.

OK some people didn’t explained it so well so here it is again for everyone’s satisfaction and understanding. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY, I GUARANTEE YOU IT WILL WORK. I HAVE DONE IT ON MORE THAN 5 DIFFERENT MODELS AND MANUFACTURERS.

  1. Turn the tablet off by either using the power off option if the tablet turns on or Pressing and holding down the Vol. UP key and the Power Button until the screen goes black. *once powered off please use the following method.
  2. Press and hold both volume buttons, while holding Vol. UP & Vol. DOWN you will press and hold the power button for exactly 1 second (count on your head or say it out loud -Mississippi one-) and release the power button BUT KEEP HOLDING THE VOLUME KEYS DOWN.
  3. You will hold down the Volume keys until you see the screen turn on and the logo show up. (WHEN YOU SEE YOUR TABLET LOGO INMEDIATELY RELEASE THE VOLUME BUTTONS) *The problem in 90% of the cases I see daily it’s a combination of bad timing and not following the proper steps because important details are assumed a day not explained. Summary: So we turned of the device then hold both volume buttons and while holding them you will press and hold de power button for EXACTLY 1 second (Mississippi one){keep holding the volume keys} . You will release the volumen keys ONLY WHEN YOU SEE YOUR TABLET LOGO. At which point it will take from 1 to 5 minutes depending on the tablet specs to show you the Android Recovery options, where you will use the Volume up and down key to circle between options and the power button as the “enter” for selecting whichever option is highlighted. Hi I had the exact problem on the chromo android tablet, 1st thing you need to do is power off the tablet. Then press and hold both volume up and volume down key, while holding, press n hold power button for a sec to turn it on, continue holding both power keys, once powered on the screen will go blank but it will be illuminated with a black screen, release volume keys and punch volume up or down key to access recovery menu navigate menu with vol keys use power to select the options

Hello, Solution #1 if you hold the volume up and power button in at the same time while the tablet is shut off should get you where you need to be. Solution #2 Found this info on another site, hope this helps. This user was having similar issue with reset. 1 Fortunately USB debugging had been set as default on the tablet. 2 I downloaded the SDK package with tools and platform tools. 3 That package had the adb programs that we needed to reset. 4 Unfortunately the adb couldn’t recognize the tablet. 5 The Android showed in Device Manager with a yellow triangle. 6 Updating the device driver on via web was useless. 7 I needed an updated USB driver 8 I found the updated USB driver for this device in Uberizer from TechKnow. 9 The driver that I needed was stored in C:\Program Files\Techknow\Uberizer\Usb driver\A1x livesuite 107 32 bit. 10 One computer used the 32 bit and one used the 64 bit. (both are available) 11 Finally I was able to access the SDK\platform-tools\adb.exe (program) 12 There area lot of tutorials on how to use SDK and adb but my mani problem was the adb recognizing my android device. If it doesn’t see the tablet you surely need the correct USB driver. 13 First I used Uberizer to connect. 14 Then I used the CMD prompt in windows and followed the path to where the adb program was stored. Mine was C:\Developer\SDK\Platform-tools\ (it came packaged within a package alt-bundle-windows-x86, but I moved the SDK portion to an easier place to access. 15 Dos commands opened the C:\Developer\SDK\Platform-tools16 I used “C:\Developer\SDK\Platform-tools\adb devices” to make sure the tablet was recognized. 17 Then I used the C:\Developer\SDK\Platform-tools\adb shell 18 rm /data/system/gesture.key (note the space following “rm”) 19 Then I booted the tablet and the pattern lock was gone.

Ok first turn off the tablet push and hold on button at the same time pushing vol down then you should see android laying down push vol up then move using vol button to chose Factory reset then push power button then reboot restart good or chose clear password user data or I’d know. You have to reset whole tablet or deal withit

I did not think this could be done because the volume up and down button are one that you either depress one side for up or the other side for down, but it did. Here goes: Depress both the up and down side of the volume button and then press the Power on button for literally 1 second and then let go. DO NOT let up on the Volume Up and Down sides until you see the screen come on. When it does you can use the volume up or down to move cursor to choose the option to reset. Choose whichever option you want and select it by pushing the Power button. It worked and I will say that the screen came on just about ten seconds once I pressed the Power button for exactly one second. I really didn’t think it was going to work. But it really did! Turn tablet off, now press both up and dn. vol. buttons firmly and keep holding both at the same time. Now press on/off button for 1 sec. no more. remain hold on vol buttons until Cromo appears then release. Give it a few seconds then press vol. up quickly. That should bring you to a menu. Scroll down using vol. keys and enter with on/off. Reset and reboot, sounds simple does’nt. It took me a couple or three tries. Make sure you have a good charge on the tablet. One for yourself might not hurt either.
