Chosen Solution
It’s 6 years old but well maintained And hasn’t been dropped. It started suddenly - a few flickering lines just above the home button. I can make out the entire screen with app icons being repeatedly duplicated within those lines. I have attached a video . Please help https://youtu.be/hGME1CGXl7o
Somehow the LCD is damaged and needs replaced. You will also most likely have to replace the digitizer with it. You are looking at around 80 dollars for the parts. Ifixit has videos showing how to do it and there are more videos on YouTube.
