I can tell you Apple did address the backlight cable issue as you can see here 2018 MacBook Pros Try to Solve Flexgate Without Admitting It Exists As far as the 2017 models Apple has not disclosed when the new cable was introduced. So we just don’t know… If you have a system with a bad cable get it in to be repaired to either an Apple authorized service center or Apple Store.
this is my macbook pro 2017. I am not 100% sure that I have a slightly longer cable, but when I open the lid fully, it appears that the cable is not touching the board.
