Chosen Solution

My laptop shut off because the battery was depleted. I plugged it and proceeded to turn it on, the same browser appeared with the different tabs I had earlier. It froze and wouldn’t budge. I turned it off and tried turning it on again. This time it showed the flashing question mark on top of a folder, by reading through the forum I learnt that it meant that the laptop didn’t find the file to boot from. I turned it off again and turned it on while holding command+R and it led me to internet recovery (where I had to choose a network) problem is that after I choose a network the laptop freezes or stays on the screen with the selected network and a globe. How can I fix it? Some background, I changed the optical drive for an SSD (dual drive setup)

This could be several issues. The first know issue is the hard drive/IR cable failure. Apple was even replacing these for free for a while. Which bay did you put the new SSD drive in and which drive are you booting from? MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2012 Hard Drive Cable Replacement
