Chosen Solution

Hi,I have a Praktica BC1 electronic SLR camera and I have problem with selecting the shutter speeds. When I change the shutter speed by using the knob I see the correct status indicators looking in the viewfinder, but when I take a picture it always uses the same shutter speed (maybe 1/1000?). Any idea how to fix it?

Electrically timed SLR’s use an electromagnet to hold the closing curtain. Often times the face of this magnet and the bar become fouled so the magnet is not able to hold the bar. So you get the fastest shutter speed no matter what the setting. Dan, I think I have the same problem with a BCX, and would like to give your suggested fix a try! I’m not sure where I should be accessing the magnet, though. Is there any chance you can clarify? Thank you! Ben.
