I have a paper ja message that appears for no apparent reason. I am told that there is a hardware failure. Is it possible to test the sensors that signal such a jam? The printer will feed paper incrementally through the paper path if the print button is pressed several times. The printer has been restarted several times to no avail.
If you can, open up the printer by removing the screws from the bottom and/or back (there may also be a latch to open up the rear of the device) and use a lightly damp (not dripping) rag or towel to wipe down the paper dust and other contaminants. Additionally, clean off the feed roller using a cotton swab.
