ishattered my screen and took it to get replaced, now my fingerprint feature will not even let me store my print. do u think the repairman messed it up or maybe just needs some sort of reset?
I sure hope your repairman was somebody at the Apple Store, since they are doing iPhone 6 screen replacement for $109 and you get a new touch ID/home button. Regular repair shops can’t really compete with that pricing until the replacement screen price comes down a bit more. I always advise other shops to at least inform their customers that they could get the screen replaced by Apple for $109. I would advise you to return this screen, get your old one back and head to the Apple Store. jessa
For the iPhone 5s, 6, and 6+, you have to transfer the original fingerprint scanner from one screen to another when replacing the screen display. Most likely, he didn’t transfer the fingerprint scanner.
I replaced a damaged screen and transferred the original finger print scanner/home button and it now won’t read a finger print. Also if I double touch to bring the screen down it doesn’t respond. Works fine as a home button but that’s it. Anyone else had this problem or now how to fix it? I double check all the ribbons and can’t find any tears.
I notice that Ifixit have a warning when you purchase just the thermal screen that fingerprint ID wont work after replacing the original. That repair only involves fitting a new home button extension cable.. the button itself is not disturbed. Is it apple ramping up security with the latest firmware?
