Hey, i got an iphone 6 from a friend. I’m trying to recover the data from an damanged logic board. The phone died over night while charging. With a multimeter i checkt for shorts on vcc bat on the bat connector. Bat which shows no short. The vcc_main line shows a short. I already desoldered the two caps near the backlight ic. The short still exists. Then i tried to find the fault with a bench power supply. Directly connected to vcc main. With 1.6v and 3A i got heat within the green area in the picture. Is is likeliy that there is an short? Or is this area always getting hot? I don’t want to remove random components. I have done visual inspection but have not found any damanged part. This is my first repair. So i don’t have many experience. Except watching videos and reading articles. Picture: https://ibb.co/HhsJwQC Hopefully someone can help me fixing this problem. Thanks for reading / contributing.

Why did you remove the caps in front of the backlight driver? You mentioned it died while charging. Look at the schematics and see if there are any charging circuit components in your circles. A 3 AMP draw would constitute a full short but 1.6V might not be producing enough wattage to reveal the short. Providing you injected voltage directly into a VCC Main cap the schematics should tell you what to remove next.
