Chosen Solution
Hi Everyone, Hopefully someone can provide some type of insight on this issue. I work in my schools tech department and have been doing some minor repairs on student’s Chromebooks. The devices are only three years old and lately we have seen a lot of kids whose keyboards go faulty and a sometimes a whole row of keys will stop working and sometimes you cannot type anything on the entire keyboard. Because the Esc and Refresh keys don’t work I am unable to do a hard reset of the device. and because the device is managed there is no option to “powerwash” in the settings menu. I have attempted to unplug the keyboard and clean the zif connector and reconnect and still no resolution for the issue. Is the only solution a full keyboard replacement? Or is there another method I may have missed?
Hi @techybecky , If your keyboard is faulty you will need a replacement. You can find a guide here: Dell Chromebook 11 3180 Keyboard Replacement If you need any help please reply to this answer. Thanks, John
