Accidentally left the phone in the rain for 5-7 minutes. Fired it and tried unlocking and it wasn’t trying to scan the phone. Nothing is blocking the true depth camera. Tried resetting Face ID and it couldn’t detect the face, saying lower and higher. Tried resetting the phone, nothing worked. Afraid of water damage, wondering if it’s worth putting in rice?
Don’t put in rice, it’s a lie. Only thing rice will do is get stuck in your charging port. First turn off the phone and DON’T CHARGE IT. Open the phone and disconnect the battery. Open it up and dry it. If you see corrosion clean it with a qtip and alcohol and if necessary a soft brush. Br careful opening the phone the screen is glued down with adhesive. Once you open it open the screen like a book there are cables on the right side. Do not use metal tools to open the phone. You should also take off the the earpiece/proximity sensor assembly and dry it and clean it. There are videos on ifixit and YouTube on how to do it. If you are unsure you should take it to a repair shop.
