Chosen Solution

Hey, so I have an Xbox 360 Zephyr with a ruined disc drive pretty much. It wasn’t reading games well, so I tried changing the laser and that didn’t help. Not it won’t even close properly and etc… So I was thinking to change the drive itself, but as far as I know, you have to extract the key from the old one and transfer it into the new one. So, I wanted to know, if there’s any way to do it on a laptop? Like with adapters or something?

Why not just keep the drive controller board and put it in a new drive? No hacking required. There are adapters available, not sure if they still make them. I don’t think hackable adapters will be cheap, or if you are good at it, buy some kind of USB-to-SATA engineering adapter and run it with 360 drive flashing utilities. There should be open sourced ones available, but they expect you to be expert hacker level to use it. If you need to ask how, chances are you can’t do it. So just buy a new drive of the same model and swap the board.
