External Hdd Suddenly Is Very Slow On Mac Hard Drive

I have an external HDD used on an iMac. Suddenly from one day to next, it starts got get really really slow. Taking a document from HDD to folder on iMac can take forever. Any ideas as to what this is? I have tried on other mac, same problem. Also i have placed it in a new USB adaptor. I also tryed reparing it, with disc utility. nothing works……

Probably a sign of the External Hard Drive starting to fail. Anything important on there backup to another drive ASAP.
