Hello, have interest to buy some apple parts, also some lcd complete assembly, concerning the following models. My question is something about the screens, apple is having problems replacing these 2 models. Macbook pro 15 inch mid 2018 A1990 emc 3215 Macbook pro 13 inch mid 2018 A1989 emc 3214 What is certain that when replacing the bad lcd with the new ones, the computer detects it and gives errors or does not work at all, which they say there is blocked, preventing it from working. Is this true or not? Thank You
I think the “problems” you are hearing about are people trying to repair their Macs themselves which then they “trip” the T2 chip and then their machine is locked down. Personally, due to how new this machine is I would just simply refer people to this Check Your Service and Support Coverage to check their warranty coverage and if they are covered under warranty I would have them go to an Apple Store and request service via there. At the time of this post there is no way to bypass the “T2 lockdown” without special software and tools only Apple technicians have access to. Morale of the story is just to refer people (and yourself) to Apple if they/you have Macs made in <2016 that need servicing. You don’t want to brick your/other people’s expensive Macs, right?
