When putting the drivers into a new Win7 install, Epson’s search-and-destroy printer identifier and installer decided on its own to update firmware; of course, it crashed. Printer is now stuck in partial-start state - when you power it up, Power LED flashes and beeps once or twice as normal, display starts to come up, then it quits. I have the firmware updater utility that is SUPPOSED to work, and a couple of the Epson service programs, but they will not connect to the printer via USB. What is the procedure to do a hardware reset on the WF-3520 (panel keys held down, timing…) to get the bootloader in the microcontroller to reset and go to the “Recovery Mode” function where you can install firmware?

Try to update the firmware for your printer by following steps: (This process is only applied in window version only) Make sure your Epson product and computer are connected to the same wireless networkClick Start Button or Start > All Programs or Programs > Epson Software > Epson Software Updater. If you don’t see Epson Software Updater in the Epson Software folder, go to the Epson Software Updater page to download and install the utility. When you see the screen, select the check box next to each available update and click Install.Follow the on-screen instructions to update your product’s firmware. Its all done now. For more info please refer to Epson WorkForce WF-3520 Manual.

I solved this problem by trashing the printer. Because ”epson assistence” was to change the mainboard with a cost that surpasses the printer value itself. I’ll never buy an Epson for the rest of my life. Amen.

HI, You have to replace the eprom chip with the new one and your printer will work again like new. You can find the eprom chip in online store.
