Briggs and Stratton 6.5hp push mower. It would run great until I have to stop for gas or to empty bagger. Then it would just not start until about an hour later. I put in a new spark plug, pull cable, cleaned out the air filter, new carburetor. Correct oil and level, and NEW ETHANOL FREE GAS. NOW? it will start for about 5 seconds and die. Then it will not even turn over afterwards, just like before. This problem just started after I boight it used. Ran great until I mowed about 3 times. Now it’s a lawn ornament. Everyone keeps saying “clogged carb” NOT AT ALL No one answers after I say it’s a new one…and it has no adjustments. I did notice the new spark plug was black with carbon after just one or two uses on the old carb. So I cleaned it with a wore brush and tested with my tester. Good to go. Not getting flooded either. Ummmmmm HELP Update (06/28/2021) I got it to start by closing the choke bit then have to manually walk the choke up to open (rabbit) bit to get it to stay running I have to mess with the governor spring. I tried taking a link out but that didn’t help much. I have a new one on the way. Doesn’t seem to be a way to adjust it

Try unscrewing the gas cap a half a turn.

Howard Desper this “not start until about an hour later “ sounds like a possible vapor lock. Reroute your gas line and see if that makes a difference. Also, check your tank gas cap. Make sure that it is vented, otherwise you create a vacuum and your engine will not get any gas. Check the choke linkage make sure everything moves freely. Black, dry and sooted spark plug faces are usually from a to rich mixture. Basically to much fuel and not enough air. So check your air inlet as well
