How do I prevent the engine from shutting off when I put the mower in reverse while the blades are engaged?
Ah this is simple. when you look at the ignition, where the key goes, there should be a little icon of a mower with an arrow. After you start the mower, turn the key to this position. If it isnt there it wont go reverse, so after starting just move the key to that position and it should fix it. Go test it now and let me know if it works! Hope this helps!
it is a safety function ,on my stiga combi, there is a small plastic leaver on the left hand side that has to be pressed down with the heel at the same time as you press down reverse ,on other machines there may be different methods but there will be something to disengage the safety switch
i have a craftsman rider model 917.276640 when i try to put it in reverse the motor will turn off. when i place in the forward it works fine.
Put the cutter deck out of drive then try revers afterwards put it in forward drive turn the engine to full on then put the cutting deck into drive . When the cutting deck is in drive to use reverse you need press a small lever down with your left heal Good luck
