Hi all My MacBook is experiencing issues. It got a very small amount of yogurt water on the top left of the keyboard (1, Q, and A keys), for a split second, but it was immediately wiped up and worked fine with no issue. Issue:
- I can not get any visible boot activity at all.
- The computer makes no gong, chime, etc.
- No grey screen However:
- It does charge (or at least appears to)
- the display does turn on (its black but you can tel that it’s on. And the Apple logo lights up)
- the trackpad provides haptic feedback when I turn it on
- the caps lock key works for a split second. if i press it after initial boot, it lights up then goes off. after that, pressing it alone does nothing. but, if i hold down any other key on the keyboard, and press the caps lock key at the same time, it will again light up for a split second. i can do this as many times as i want. Tried:
- Resetting PRAM And Smc
- external monitor
- Tried to completely drain it, no luck. Took it to the apple store and the following experience: Genius told me that there was real way to diagnose it since they couldn’t connect it to the network to run the hardware diagnostic. I asked the genius to take it to the back and give it a visual inspection. He did. Came back and said: “It is a power issue. When I disconnect the battery and then plug in the charger, the plug is still orange, which means it thinks its still charging the computer (op note: i have no idea if this logic makes sense or not but I’m taking his word for it unless anyone knows better). This means its one of three components: the io board, the flex (?) cable, or the logic board” Something interesting of note: I brought it home, took it out of my bag, and saw the battery icon on the display (https://support.apple.com/library/conten...). It was at the depleted state indicating to plug it in. So the display works fine as I expected. I did then plug it in, but got back to my original symptoms. Would the computer display this indicator if the logic board went bad? Any advice? Update (10/15/2017) And just like that…its booted with no issues. Anyone know whats going on? Am I on borrowed time?
Let’s take a better look at that battery. Please download, install and run Coconut Battery and post your results. http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutba…
