I have two broken laptops — a late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch that’s working perfectly, except for a busted display assembly; and an early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 15 inch with logic board damage, but a perfectly functioning display. I know the early 2013 display is not directly compatible with the late 2013 model. But what I’m wondering is: If I put the early 2013 display on the late 2013 model, what won’t work? I’d likely be willing to live with a few hiccups, such as the webcam not working. I’m not looking to spend much money on rejuvenating these laptops — but if I can turn two broken ones into one mostly functioning laptop, that’d be great.

Sadly there are too many differences physically and signaling wise to allow this. The length of the cables are also slightly different. The iSight Camera connector is also different. Reference: DisplayPort Sorry you need to correct display for the given system.
