My Vizio E60-E3 model is about 3 years old and recently stopped working. Here are the details. When plugged in, the indicator light is on as it should be. Upon power up, the indicator light turns off (normal) and the screen is backlit as normal. The issue is that there is no image (just backlight) and the audio will sometimes randomly turn on for a brief moment (maybe 1 sec) at which point the TV turns off. The TV seems to shut itself off regularly, regardless of the audio blast. I have tried power cycling with the various methods on the internet, but this has not solved the issue. I have removed and visually inspected the power board and main board, of which neither seem to have any obvious flaws. I also tried the “hold mute button” technique but to no avail. What do you guys think? I’m thinking maybe the power board since the TV is shutting of so much, but then maybe it is the main board since the backlight is turning on and the audio is infrequently turning on? EDIT/UPDATE: Posted a few pics. I have already tried removing all connections and then reconnecting. The results are the same. I also removed the boards and inspected the back sides: nothing looks burned or loose (to me). I left the TV just to see what would happen and it seems to be continually turning on and then off (in about 2 to 5 min cycles). The back light, as mentioned previously, is turning on but there is never an image on the screen. I’ve also tried using the menu button, changing inputs, etc., but nothing changes.
@tmatson since you have “no image (just backlight) and the audio will sometimes randomly turn on for a brief moment “ this sounds more like a main board issue. The power board supplies the backlight LED’s and that seems to work. you would have to check and see what the voltage is from the power board to the main board. Since the audio is involved as well, the chances are this is a main board issue. Of course, remove the back cover from your TV and check the wiring etc. Vizio uses a hodgepodge of parts and has had an issue with cold solder joints on their board connectors. Check all that. Post some pictures of your boards so we can see what you see and can try to help you with the trouble shooting. Adding images to an existing question
