I just received the above message while trying to open E:. What’s strange is that while I cannot access E:\ itself, I can access all subfolders and files under it and open the files using the matching programs and apps. However I cannot copy, delete or move any of the files or folders, so I can’t create any backup, other than by opening the files one by one and saving them somewhere else from within the program. Since I can access the files, I’m afraid to run chkdsk, so that it doesn’t cause further damage by “repairing” something which is working. What can I do to fix the problem without causing any harm to the files?
Repair the drive under properties>tools>scan and repair. If you really think it will hurt it (I think not), then try making a backup using Macrium Reflect or minitool disk partition manager. Hope this helps!
