Lady veteran with ptsd and a complete mess of a life. Your assistance is appreciated. I got up to take a whizz and my laptop slid off my [relatively low] sofa. Landed on its back and the screen was black so I powered it down with the intention of rebooting but when I went to do this I got nothing. Removed the battery + drained the power and still nothing.

Hi, Do you get any indications of power when you connect the charger to the laptop, e.g. charging light on laptop? If not and since it doesn’t start on the battery either (is this correct?) then initially you will have to open the laptop and inspect for any obvious physical damage to the motherboard. As the laptop was on when it fell this may have compounded the problem and there may be electrical problems as well. Here is the service manual for the laptop, taken from this webpage that will help to open the laptop so that it can be inspected. If the fan is not even starting when the laptop is turned on then it is looking like a power problem on the motherboard. Without the schematic for the motherboard it will be difficult to find unless the damage is obvious so you may have to contact a reputable, professional laptop repair service about the problem
