I recently dropped my iPad 2, and at first it was fine. Then, I noticed the touchscreen kept freaking out as if I were scrolling it left to right continuously. Eventually, it started clicking on things by itself and now I am unable to even click from the middle of the iPad all the way to the left. The panel is cracked pretty bad at the top of the device, could that be why my touchscreen is malfunctioning? Or is it something else?
Sounds like you need a new digitiser. That sould solve your problem. Plenty of tutorials for it if you want to tackel it yourself, just take your time. :)
Chances are there is also a dent in the case of the iPad. The odd behavior you are describing is ghost touches on the screen. Unfortunately its nothing cool like a poltergeist has possessed your tablet and you will now be able to move objects with it. It just means that something is pressing up on the screen, causing the digitizer to misbehave. Luckily its a very simple repair. I highly recommend taking it to a reputable local repair shop to have the repair done. It will take them no time and your iPad will be as good as new.
You know this is illegal to carry a cracked ipad, because apple doesnt want to look bad.
