Try a hard reset ( Hold home + Power until apple logo pops up) if that doesn’t work then you probably need to replace the screen.

Check the connections. I have seen a lot where the LCD connection comes loose but the others are intact

From what you describe I think I have a similar problem. You need to display the screen/ the display. Ideally the only damage is to the screen and not to the logic board. The fact that you can still get notifications leads me to believe that this is an easy fix.
