So the other day my iPhone decided to take a dip in the pool. It all happened very fast but I am pretty sure it made it to the bottom (4ish ft) before it was retrieved. While taking it the otter box off the screen started to flicker and then it just shut off… so I thought. I was on the phone with AT&T when my text tone went off. The phone was still on! I knew that it needed to be turned off but I couldnt. So I left it at a friends house in rice so I wouldnt be tempted to touch it. When i got back say 12 hours later ready to go to the apple store, I decided to plug it in a see what happened. It came on instantly. All was well until i noticed it said it was at 100% battery… Then it shut it self off. It immediately came back on at 1%. So I let it charge but it kept going on and off. Now it wont charge properly. Its been plugged up for sayyy 2 hours or so and is only at 15% and still turns on and off on its own. Help!!!

Erika, here is my answer to a few very similar question. The first thing I suggest is that you disassemble the phone using these guides. Then clean the phone with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Use this guide to clean it. Make sure to clean all the connectors and cable ends. After you have everything properly cleaned, replace the battery Reassemble your phone and re-evaluate. If you do not clean your phone, you could get corrosion failure later on, Rice does not prevent corrosion. I would also no longer try to do anything with the phone until it is cleaned, you are running risk of further damaging it. Hope this helps, good luck.

i have the same problem. I did all the treatments, i replaced battery and dock, no luck. my phone only charges to 17%. help.

Mine does something similar.. I took a bath and my phone decided to fall it, it only fell in maybe an inch, and it didn’t shut off or anything, it just won’t charge. Any ideas?
