I have a GE Profile microwave that is about 8-1/2 years old. The door latch is not opening the door consistently when I press it. I now have to press it and then with my other hand pull on the top of the door to pull open the door. The microwave is set flush into the kitchen island. Not sure what part(s) I need to order before calling repairman. Model PEB 2060SM1SS, Serial #FR902588U.

I had the same problem. I ended up calling a repairman for $79. He got it open and then did something insidce the latching mechanism with a screw driver, not sure wha. He tried it a few times and it worked, he left. It opened a few times after that, however within 10 or so it stuck again. We used small plastic knife to pry it open at the top to use it. I was frustrated and mentioned it to afriend and he said just to clean the rubber seal on the door. I tried that using a scouring sponge and it now opens with no problem . It has beenworkigngreat for the last week. I guess it needs to be cleaned every so often. Good luck.

Hey mate, few things to look at. The most likly being the door spring. If its broken, replace it. If not, inspect the open lever for damage and the door latch for damage.
