My ipod classic 160g will not sync with itunes when plugged into the computer. It does charge though. I called Apple but since I bought this in 2007 it was going to cost me $30 to ask a question. I cannot find an answer in the manual. I have the latest updates on both. Please help me. Thank you for your time. Linda Ammon
Linda, I assume that you are using the same computer as before and that nothing was changed on that. Double check your computer setting, just to make sure it is your iPod that gives you trouble and not your computer.I would suggest to try a different cable. Also, make sure that the $!^& connector on your iPod has no debris in it. Clean it with some isopropyl alcohol and a few puffs or compressed air (canned air will work to.) Check for broken, bend or corroded pins. If all that checks ok, you will have to tear it down and take a look at the dock connector and the logic board for missing or damaged components.
I had a issue like this on my iphone, it appeared there was dirt and dust in my docking connector. I cleaned it out carefully with a toothpick, then with a tooth brush with a little rubbing alcohol while the phone was off. Then I blew it out and gave the alcohol some minutes to evaporate. Then i connected the phone and everything was working again :)
