My iPhone 5 bent soon after I received it, from normal use! I don’t even keep it in my back pocket. It bent backwards starting from the - volume button. If you have this problem too, please reply! Update … and now the Sleep/Wake button on my iPhone 5 is malfunctioning. It has just about completely ceased to function. This iPhone is not even two years old! A lot of people doubt these words and claim it’s a scam or say “iPhones don’t bend by themselves!” And it’s true. They don’t. But if it takes just 5 Newtons of pressure to bend it, it’s probably not difficult to apply that amount of pressure in even the side pocket of a pair of jeans. That’s called a design flaw, not misuse or abuse. Just sayin’. Update Apple’s got a Sleep/Wake button replacement program for iPhone 5 now. Check their website for more info, and to see if your specific iPhone is eligible.
It seems that this is a rather common phenomenon.
Yeah, you cant even really see that so you might get lucky and they’ll replace it without you telling them that it bent because of the battery expanding. They also wont accept that it came this way. Update on my situation: My dad handled it (im only 16), and after 2 weeks of waiting for a response from Renee (some apple supervisor) we decided to call to see whats going on. He already explained to them that hes not going to pay another 270 to get it replaced and guess what? The woman who answered told us the same thing. So he asks to speak to her manager because clearly she doesnt know anything. We wait for 10 minutes on hold. After 10 minutes SHE comes back saying that her manager said that its accidental damage and we should pay (my dad and i dont even think she talked to her manager at all!) So dad got really angry and told her to send him an email with all of this information (how much to replace, her name, manager’s name, etc..) so he can take it to all of the big newspapers around to show how apple treats their customers. “But i can’t send an email!” she said alarmed. “Ok then why am I even talking to you?? Put your manager on the phone.” dad said. After another 5 min of waiting (which i think she told her manager the situation and how angry my dad is) Adam got on the phone with the calmest voice ive ever hear. He said that he’s going to send an empty box, where we are going to put the iphone in and he will send us a replacement unit. He also said that there is a 0.1% chance that we will have to pay. (the percentage is so low because everything still works on my iphone). So i just sent in my phone and am waiting on a response from them. Sorry for the lack of editing and my bad english but this isnt my english class. Let us know how you do chris. Good Luck!
iphone 5 came in, customer tried to put in their own digitizer, but broke that too, after careful checking it was noticed the entire aluminum frame was buckled and more in the region of the volume buttons, this is a defect and needs to be addressed correctly. just place a flat edge (simple ruler will suffice) on the flats and see what i mean. a sturdy metal frame with aluminum casing would have been better, i would even buy a nice stainless steel one if they had it. and if anyone can locate the waterproof seal please let me know……………………:(
iFixit’s staff are really helpful. If you need help with something, I’m sure they would be happy to help you. (Perhaps I should have asked them first :D) From personal experience with my older iPhone 3G, if it’s broken to the point that it actually won’t work properly (i.e., a faulty Home button – an iPhone without a Home button isn’t much use), just take the thing apart and do your best to fix it. My rationale is that if it doesn’t work anyway, you have nothing to lose. Even so, I take care while repairing things. Check out this page to find out if iFixit has a guide to show you through your problem to the solution.
i claim the unit by saying the battery bulged… hope this helps…
You can report it maybe on Apple and replace the iPhone 5 and next time buy case in your iPhone to keep it safe
