I tried fixing a Iphone XR, but I broke the ambiant light sensor connector. Does that need to be connected for the phone to work?
Hi @ace15593, The phone should “work” without the sensor, because all that does is sense the brightness levels around you in order to adjust the brightness on the screen. You will loose auto brightness, but that’s not the biggest deal. However; If you broke something else along with the sensor, more issues could arise.
Without the ambient light sensor connected you will lose the top microphone as well. This microphone is what Siri uses. Also there is a chance the screen will be dimmed right down. The ambient light sensor with ear speaker is not that expensive and a fairly easy replacement. The only thing is that you will lose face ID.
