One of the shoulder buttons on my 2DS XL has broken off and, being as that is an integral part of many games, I would like to replace it. I have an old 3DS XL that doesn’t work anymore, could I dismantle it and use the shoulder buttons on my 2DS XL?
If you mean the plastic parts of the buttons then no, the part is completely different, but you can probably get one for 1-2 bucks online. If you mean the physical switch on the console’s board then perhaps it could be possible, but that requires soldering tools and experience. Only way to find out is by opening both up, but if you’re up for that then a better choice would be to order a replacement button from a site like digikey or mouser, after you identify the part number.
