A few months ago my MacBook Air’s trackpad lost its “click”. It still registered on screen, but the trackpad itself didn’t move. The trackpad has a physical click — i.e., it’s not simulated through haptics — so I adjusted the screw and the click came back. However, it then went away again. I adjusted the screw a second time but after a little while the trackpad has again lost its click. I’m happy to replace the trackpad if I need to — it doesn’t seem too expensive or difficult to do. Is this what is necessary? Or should I try some other things first?

Check your battery for swelling first.
