So when looking at my iPad it looks really bad! The screen has a lot of cracks and even some holes on the sides where glass fell off and I can see inside. There are holes around the home bottom as well which makes it hard to press but believe it or not it still works. When the screen comes on it looks great. In the dark you can’t even tell there are cracks. BUT the touch screen has stopped working. I need to type in a password to get in and since the touch screen doesn’t work I can’t get In. I have had this since before my son was born and I have baby pictures on there I want to access. I lost my phone when he was 4 months old and lost most of his new born pics so I would really like to access what is on my iPad. But I’m scared of the cost to fix it… will replaceing the glass make the touch screen work or will it need more? Could it be lcd?

Front panel (aka digitizer, touchscreen glass) replacement is the most common repair for iPads. Based on your description, sounds like the LCD is still in tact and not damaged, so you will need to buy a new digitizer (preferably with home button pre-installed) from reputable suppliers like iFixit, MobileSentrix, etc. iFixit has a comprehensive guide on how to replace the front panel on iPad Air, but before you do that - take a few minutes to read this fantastic guidelines written by @refectio : After doing my repairs (battery and screen) I have problems iPad Air Wi-Fi Front Panel Assembly Replacement

Hello, good question, yes the touch screen stopped working because its severely cracked. Replacing the glass will correct the issue and your touch screen will work again. The glass is actually the touch as well. We run a repair shop… if you aren’t comfortable doing the repair, let me know! We can fix it up for you :)
