Been a while since i asked about a repair manuals on the Infiniti 96 q45, and it’s still the same. All i need are some removal and install instructions for replacement of the starter in my 96 infiniti Q45. Can’t find any instructions with step by step on how to remove it. And maybe a few pictures would help show the guys around here that it’s probably not as hard as it seems. So iv’e spent well over $60 on manuals that looked like the information was there, only to find out it wasn’t. So is there anybody out there that might have a manual that has how to remove the starter, that would be willing to email me that section only. You don’t know how much that would help, since iv’e had the new starter in the trunk for about 8 months. Thank you Lynn
Hi Lynn, It surprises me that you have manuals that lack directions for starter removal/installation. Perhaps it is buried in a section you wouldn’t think? Maybe check the index to see if it is listed there. Or can you explain what they did have and what you need that is missing? I don’t have a direct answer for your specific vehicle as I have not worked on one myself. However, I wanted to ask if you have registered for and checked on the AutoZone website? I believe you can sign up completely for free and it will give you access to lots of free repair guides and manuals in one place that are difficult to find elsewhere. I believe the guides went back as far as vehicles from 1996 and included much more than I could find anywhere else, for instance detailed wiring diagrams. I hope this helps. I do apologize if they do not have a guide for your vehicle.
@lynnwood53 this is one of those tasks that is an extreme PITA. It requires the removal of the Rack and pinion and lifting the engine of the motor mounts just enough to get it removed. Apparently not even the FSM mentions this and I spoke to the mechanic at my garage. This maybe one of those cases where it is better to let somebody else do it…. Take a look on here and check the posting by “JedCoop” and see if that will help you out.
Some extensions on your socket set and you may need to loosen the steering rack but I do not believe that the motor needs to be moved. Disconnect your negative battery cable so you don’t short out the starter wires. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQD3q1AW…
