Hi I have a late 2016 13.3" MBP with function keys. Lately, I’ve been facing an issue where the screen will go black(dim) when its titled more than 45 degrees. It’s out of warranty as well I am still able to make out the contents on the display using a flashlight. Went to the Apple Store, they want to replace the entire display assembly and are asking for $650 dollars for the same Is there any fix for this?

We don’t have any guides yet on the new 2016/17 MacBook Pro’s. But the teardown can give us a clue on whats happening MacBook Pro 13" Function Keys Late 2016 Teardown. If we jump down to Step19 we can see how this series inter-connects the display and the logic board. One of these ribbon cables is likely damaged in some way. Carefully pop off your bottom cover and do an inspection of the connectors do you see any staining from liquid damage? Do you see any distorted parts or missing screws? Take some images so we can see if you see anything. Most of us tech’s haven’t seen them yet as most issues are still covered under warranty. Do be careful as this still maybe covered under an extended warranty issue (defective part type of issue) so you don’t want to mark your system that you’ve been in it.

This sounds Like a defective Lvds cable. The lvds cable carries the backlight signal and video signal within the cable if there is a loose connection in the cable wiring it will cause the symptoms you are having As a hobby i fix apple computers and i had a problem with a lvds cable that had severed video wires internally. The computer only presented a white screen when turned on no apple logo because it was only showing the backlight and no video signal
