The display on my MacBook Pro 13” which I use as my back-up suddenly stopped looking okay one day. First I noticed a difference in the saturation and brightness (it became more saturated and darker) and then eventually it got worse and started flickering and some lines were visible. It would then suddenly go back to normal, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for a few hours but eventually would revert to the issue.

To my knowledge, the MacBook hasn’t been dropped etc. So really not sure what is causing this. I took it in to the apple store and all they are telling me is that the whole display needs replaced, not giving a reason why this is happening. The notes they gave were very vague. Has anyone had a similar issue or can shed more light on why this might be happening??

They are hiding the fact the display failed because of poor design!

Basically, the T-CON board has failed due to heat! Sadly, you’ll need to get a new display assembly. Make sure you get a good thermal monitoring app like TG Pro so you can ramp up (Turbo) the fan when you are pushing your system hard. Also make sure you don’t block the vents and clean the dust buildup yearly.
