Hi, We replaced the screen for a customer in Feb 21 on their A1708. This week they messaged saying that they had a pink screen. I replied with steps to try and resolve the issue and suggested if that didn’t work to take it a local company we know well who specialise in board level repairs as it may be faulty GPU. They have had a look at the display cable has sheered off, it’s completely torn. They have also said there were two different replacement screens for the A1708 one which worked and one which didn’t. Our supplier only offered one replacement screen option which is the one we fitted. My question is has anyone heard of there being two different replacement screen options for the A1708 or experienced a display cable completely tearing and if so what was the cause? Hi I haven’t heard of 2 replacement display types but I have heard of the display cables tearing because of a issue called flex gate Flex gate is caused by the display cables bing too short which pulls them at bad angles causing them to tear over time Apple did have replacement program but for this model it is no longer available Hopefully this helps Any questions please ask Thanks:-)
