I have a MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar 2017 model A1707. The screen blanks when opening past about 70 degrees. I assume the flex cables are failing. Computer works fine if opened part way. Do you have a guide for replacing the backlight flex cables or 15” Retina display flex cable. Should I replace both while I have it open?
Sadly, you need a new display assembly as the skill level needed to replace the ribbon cables is very high and its tricky its not a DIY job! Here’s one source which has the full display unit: 15” MacBook Pro Display Assemblies I’ll warn you, they are hard to find new as there is a shortage. Frankly, its not worth it! Get the display assembly. I’m not even sure if they even offer the ribbon cables any more.
