I have a MacBook Pro 15" Touch Bar 2017 model A1707. The screen blanks when opening past about 70 degrees. I assume the flex cables are failing. Computer works fine if opened part way. Do you have a guide for replacing the backlight flex cables or 15” Retina display flex cable. Should I replace both while I have it open?
Sadly, you need a new display assembly as the skill level needed to replace the ribbon cables is very high and its tricky its not a DIY job! Here’s one source which has the full display unit: 15” MacBook Pro Display Assemblies I’ll warn you, they are hard to find new as there is a shortage. Frankly, its not worth it! Get the display assembly. I’m not even sure if they even offer the ribbon cables any more. And that’s assuming your backlight cable failed, only one cable involved as you can see here:
