Hello guys, I have a mid 2012 retina macbook pro and the display is damaged. Its out of warranty and support but i really wish to make it work. I have a retina display assembly from mid 2015 which i use. I want to know if I can use mid-2015 display assembly in mid-2012, i did some research but couldnt find much…there is a possibility that backlight might not work - to be honest that is an easier trade-off than nothing. Please help urgently.
You have a few different issues here: The 2012 model uses a longer iSight cable as the location on the logic board is not the same. The vendor codes of the LCD’s them selves tell the system what it is, as such you’ll likely find it won’t work. Sorry to say I haven’t tried all of the permutations of switching things around, I just end up using the correct one as I have to support it under a warranty.
