Chosen Solution
My Disk Utility is saying that my Mac has a hardware problem that cannot be repaired, and consequently, any time I turn the Mac on, the folder with the ? flashes. It says the SMART status is failing. Would this problem be solved if I bought an external hard drive? Any help is really appreciated, thanks.
You can run MacOS from an external drive and boot with it. But anyway, I would replace the harddrive myself for an SSD, it’s also easier and (most of the times) faster.
