I was attempting a digitizer-only replacement on this iPad Air 2 and I finally got the face off of the thing and I think that the LCD came apart. Will I need to replace the LCD now too? Not sure if you can tell from the images, but both sides have cracks :)
It’s not just the cracks, I think you literally butchered the LCD and cut it open right in the middle.
From what I can see in the pictures, you will need to replace the LCD. Some of the internal layers have come apart . Your best bet for repairing this iPad is to get a complete display assembly.
